Be Aware of Malware

Malware is software that is intended to damage or disable computers and computer systems. You must keep your computer from coming in contact with malware. Malware can really damage your computer system which a lot of people have experienced. Let's look at how malware works, and how we can protect our computers from it.


There are several types of malware

Virus: is a malicious piece of software or malware that once inside your computer replicates and effects other computers in your network. Stealing passwords or data, corrupting files, spamming contacts or even taking over your computer system.

Trojans: is a piece of malware that comes in a legitimate program and tampers the file. It tends to send out personal information like your bank account info or any personal information about you.

Spyware: is a malware that spies on you. It hides in the background and watches everything you do online. Like your: passwords, credit card numbers and much more.

Adware: is advertising software that undermine your computer's security which leads you to ads. This leads to a lot of other malware to come affect your computer as well.


Now let's look at some ways to protect your computer from malware

Upgrade your operating software to the latest version. Check for new versions regularly and turn on automatic updates. 

Be careful not to click on links you don't know the destination of or download files from a source that you don't trust.  

Make sure you trust the sender of the email you receive before you click on it. 

Make sure that you are running up to date antivirus software on your computer. You can also use antivirus software to detect and remove malware as well.
